Police Warn Kogi Residents Against Jungle Justice Over Reported Disappearance Of Male Organs

107

The Kogi State Police Command has warned the general public to avoid taking laws into their own hands.

This follows increasing reports that male organs are being taken away by suspected ritualists in the Confluence State.

It was  gathered that in the last week in Kogi State, some suspected ritualists were arrested, especially within the state capital Lokoja, for allegedly stealing male organs from their victims.

But reacting to this development in a statement on Wednesday, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, admonished the general public to remain calm, noting that, anyone caught disturbing the public peace will be prosecuted.

While quoting the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, CP Bethrand Onuoha, who called on residents of Lokoja and its environs to desist from peddling fake and false information on the disappearance of male organs that is currently trending in Lokoja, the statement further stated that, some of the allegations have been investigated by the police and medical examinations were equally carried out, which turned out to be false.

The statement reads in part, “The false information has the sole aim of inciting public disturbance, creating fear and disrupting the peaceful environment the state is currently enjoying.

“The police are planning sterner measures to curtain false reports in the state. Anyone caught giving false information will be prosecuted according to the law.

“Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police sternly warns members of the public to desist from taking the law into their hands by carrying out jungle justice.

“To this end, the Commissioner of Police enjoins the good people of Kogi State to remain security conscious and report anything that looks suspicious in their areas to the police.”
