Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 17-year-old medical student, Great Orogun, for allegedly assaulting a 3-year-old sexually in his compound in the Ibafo area of the state on August 18.

A statement from the spokesperson of the command, SP Omolola Odutola, says Chidinma Umakawo, the distressed mother of the victim, had stormed the Ibafo Divisional police station and reported that while her daughter was attending a birthday party held in the suspect’s parents’ house where the organizers are tenants, the alleged perpetrator who is a medical student from an undisclosed university in Lagos, forcefully placed his male genital into her mouth.

‘’The revelation came during a friendly conversation when the mother asked her daughter if she enjoyed the party. Shockingly, the girl narrated how Great had closed the kitchen door, lifted her up, and violated her by putting his tongue in her mouth.

Upon learning about the incident, a local NGO demanded a thorough investigation into the case. The traumatized young girl has exhibited signs of psychological distress, even recounting the ordeal to herself in moments of solitude. In her statement, the concerned mother expressed her desire for justice to be served.” the statement read in part

Odutola stated that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha, has been briefed on the matter and has ordered an immediate investigation into the allegation. He affirmed the child’s rights and emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of abuse, particularly rape, which he considers a violation of human rights.

Assuring the public of a meticulous investigation, Commissioner Mustapha urged parents to adopt authoritative parenting skills to counter the growing incidence of sexual violations in the state.
