8 Persons Feared Dead, Others Missing In Delta Boat Accident

Eight people have reportedly lost their lives while over 20 others are missing after a speedboat carrying mourners capsized in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, November 23, 2024 on Bennet River, near Warri.
According to reports, the passengers aboard the boat, reportedly traveling at high speed, were returning from a burial ceremony when the vessel collided with a submerged log in the creeks.
The impact caused the boat to capsize.
Many of the victims who were not wearing life vests and couldn’t swim, tragically drowned.
The body of a one-year-old child was discovered hours later, floating along the creeks.
