408

The Ekiti State Police Command has apprehended eight suspects linked to kidnapping and murder in the state. According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Abutu Sunday, the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

The suspects, identified as Sule Dairu (25), Ali Bello (25), Mohammodu Hammed (21), Ali Salihu Medoki (25), Ori Gambo (20), Shaibu Umaru (45), Ibrahim Abdullahi (27), and Suberu Lawal (40), allegedly killed two individuals, Mohammodu Ibrahim and Ibrahim Baba, in Ayedun-Ekiti in May 2025. Baba was reportedly killed after his family paid a ransom.

According to the police, the gang invaded Isah Camp at Odo Ayedun-Ekiti, shot Ibrahim dead, and kidnapped four others. The suspects confessed to the crime and revealed their roles during investigation. Some items belonging to the victims were recovered from the suspects.

The suspects have been arraigned in court and remanded at the correctional centre. The Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, reiterated the command’s zero-tolerance policy for crimes and urged the public to be security-conscious and collaborate with security agencies.
