268

A heart-wrenching incident has shaken a Kenyan family in Gisembe village, Ichuni, Nyaribari Masaba, Kisii County. Mercy Ogechi, a distraught mother, has shared the painful details of her 4-year-old son’s tragic death after her househelp allegedly threw him into a well within their homestead.

The Fateful Day
Ogechi received a mysterious call from an unknown number, urging her to rush home to attend to her injured child. Without revealing the nature of the incident, the caller insisted that her son needed her immediate attention. Panicked, Ogechi tried to contact her househelp, but she didn’t answer her calls.

The Discovery
Rushing home, Ogechi frantically searched for her son, but couldn’t find him anywhere. Her worst fears were confirmed when she discovered the well open and her child’s lifeless body floating face down in the water. “I saw his head, and his shoes were floating separately. That’s when I screamed for help,” she recounted, her voice trembling with anguish.

Investigation Underway
The househelp fled the scene and is currently at large. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. This tragic event has left the family and community in shock, raising concerns about the safety and well-being of children in domestic settings.

Community Impact
The incident has sparked an outpouring of support for the grieving family, with many calling for justice and greater accountability for those entrusted with childcare. As the investigation continues, the community remains shaken by the senseless loss of a young life.
