Shanghai SIPG midfielder Oscar has been slapped with an eight-match ban. The former Chelsea player had kicked the ball at two Guangzhou R&F players resulting in a mass brawl.
The ban means the Brazilian will not play until August 13, 2017. He was also fined $5000.
Reports say the midfielder had not attended a hearing for the misconduct, appearing elsewhere with a t-shirt with the words, “nothing to do, nothing to say”. The Chinese Football Association had written to FIFA to ask for suggestions on the suitable punishment to be meted out to him.
Oscar has made 21 appearances for the Chinese club, scoring four goals and providing 10 assists.
